Minimum Starting Salary: $35,721
Location: Commissary Kitchen, Learning Hub Campus, Plattsburgh
Anticipated Start: June 2026
Position Overview: 12-Month Position, 40 hours per week, 240 work days
This position supports the operations of our new CVES Commissary Kitchen, which prepares large-scale meals for distribution to school districts across the region. The Cleaner/Messenger plays a key role in ensuring timely and safe delivery of food, while also maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver prepared food to regional school districts using a box truck or large van
- Load and unload delivery vehicles, ensuring accuracy and safe handling of products
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of kitchen areas in accordance with health and safety standards
- Stock and organize coolers, freezers, and storage areas
- Assist the Food Service Director and kitchen staff with daily operational needs including, but not limited to, inventory control, monthly inventory audits, order picking for production floor, and order picking for deliveries.
Schedule:
This is expected to be a day shift position with a planned schedule of 6AM- 2:30PM Monday-Friday
Paid Time off: 20 paid holidays, 15 vacation days, 18 sick days, 5 personal leave days, 3 family illness days, and 3 bereavement days per occurrence
Retirement System: New York State and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS)
Health Insurance: 13% of premiums paid by employee. BOCES pays 87% of premium.
